Need Help Installing Security Lights?
High-quality security lighting is one of the most effective ways of keeping your family safe, but it also offers other benefits. For example, security lighting provides the kind of improved visibility that will prevent accidents while entering or exiting your home. Our licensed electricians can install a complete home security lighting system from scratch or troubleshoot and fix any problems you’re having with an existing system.
Security Lighting Option #1: Non-Motion Sensor
Also called “constant” or “fixed” security lights, non-motion sensor lights are the easiest and most affordable type of security lights to install, as they don’t require a motion-detecting component. There are several non-motion sensor options available, including manually controlled models and photovoltaic lights (“dusk-to-dawn” lights, which automatically turn on and off).
Security Lighting Option #2: Motion Sensor
Most lights will make your home safer, but basic security lights have some limitations. For example, you may forget to turn on manually controlled lights or lack the ability to do so at all when you’re traveling. Photovoltaic lights eliminate these problems, but they also keep your lights on all night. Motion-sensor security lights eliminate these problems and only turn your lights on when movement is detected.
Security Lighting Option #3: Flood Light Cameras
For increased protection, many homeowners are now deciding to install flood light cameras. These are typically combination units, consisting of a security camera and one or two connected flood lights, which are typically triggered by movement. There are a variety of options on the market, ranging from relatively simple models to more capable units, offering pan and tilt functions.
Security Lighting Option #4: Smart Security Lights
Homeowners seeking the best possible security light solution will want to consider smart security lights. These lights can be controled from your phone, laptop, or tablet, and you can coordinate their operation with other systems. For example, you could set them up to operate on a predetermined schedule or send notifications to your devices when they detect motion.
