SAFETY PROTECTION

More then  1000 deaths, and more than 30,000 people are hospitalized each year from electrical shock. Up-to-date electrical safety equipment is very important to think about with the safety of your family inside your home.

Equipment such as proper GFCI Protection and modern tamper resistant outlets help to prevent you and your children being severely hurt from electrical mishaps.

SMOKE DETECTORS HELP WITH FIRE PROTECTION

More then 51,000 Electrical Fires happen each year in America. Correctly installed equipment minimizes the chances of electrical overloads and short circuits, which are common culprits behind electrical fires. Modern day smoke detectors and arc-fault breakers can actually help detect electrical fires right before they start, allowing you to take care of the problem before it grows out of control!

CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS

Carbon Monoxide is an odorless and deadly gas formed from the incomplete combustion of natural gas & propane from appliances. National Fire Protection Agency requires them to be in the hallways outside your bedrooms, integrated with your hardwired smoke detector system.

The National Electrical Code (NEC), often referred to as NFPA 70, is a set of electrical standards and regulations developed and maintained by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in the United States. The NEC provides a set of guidelines and requirements for the safe installation, use, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment for electricians.  These code's set a minimum standard on fire protection and life safety that all licensed electricians must follow.

GFCI PROTECTION

GFCI devices (outlets with the buttons on them) constantly monitor the amount of current flowing through a circuit. If the current flowing into the circuit differs by a very small amount, the GFCI interrupts power faster than a blink of an eye to prevent  electrical shock.  This is required anywhere you could come in contact with water including: sinks, outlets and appliances.

BONDED & GROUNDED WATER LINE

These receptacles have spring-loaded shutters that close off the openings, or slots, of the receptacles when not in use, keeping children & adults safe from accidental electrocution.  Each year, approximately 2,400 children suffer severe shock and burns when they stick items into the slots of electrical receptacles.  Modern building codes require each receptacle inside your home to be tamper resistant.

BONDED & GROUNDED WATER LINE

All Electrical System have been grounded through the copper water lines since the beginning of time.  However if the Copper is separated or isolated in some areas, it can cause certain plumbing fixtures to become "live" with voltage.  If this happens, next time you go to wash your hands or take a shower, you could get shocked.

TAMPER RESISTANT OUTLETS

These outlets have spring-loaded shutters that close off the openings, or slots, of the outlets when not in use, keeping children & adults safe.  Modern building codes require each receptacle inside your home to be tamper resistant.

Make sure your home's wiring is covered with PVC plastic.  Older homes need to be checked to make sure the wiring is safe. If not, older wiring can become brittle and lead to arcing and eventually a fire.

Water & Georgia's high humidity levels cause quick deterioration of your homes exterior outlets, which can lead to an electrical fire. Properly installed bubble covers protect outside outlets.

An emergency shut off located on the outside of your home can be important if you have a failure inside your electrical panel. You won't want to have to wait on the power company to turn off the power to your home during an emergency.

ARC-Fault breakers are a newer style of breaker with computer chips inside that constantly read and monitor the circuit for possible electrical fires & arcing hazards

Electrical Components wear out over time and after 30 years of use the connections can become pretty loose.  Loose connections eventually lead to arcing & over heating then failure of the device.

AGE OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
